Most brake pads last somewhere between 30,000 and 70,000 miles, and where yours land depends on how and where you drive. Stop-and-go traffic on Washington Road or Whiskey Road wears brakes faster than open highway. Towing, hauling and a heavy foot shorten their life, and so does summer heat, which bakes the pads and the fluid. Trucks and SUVs have more weight to stop, so they usually go through brakes sooner than a small sedan. A Jeep Wrangler on bigger tires, a Nissan Altima on the daily commute and a Silverado pulling a boat on weekends all wear brakes differently, and we set up each one for the way it is used.
The easy way to stay ahead of it is to have your brakes looked at whenever your car is in for an oil change or other service. At C&C we check what is left on your pads at every visit, and the digital inspection shows you the measurement and a photo, so you can plan a brake job instead of being surprised by one. Feel something off between visits? Swing by any of our six shops and we will take a look.
