Auto repair has an old trust problem. Your car goes up on the lift, somebody comes back with a list of things it needs, and you are left deciding whether to believe them. A digital vehicle inspection fixes that, and it is how visits work at our shops. Here is what actually happens.
What a Digital Vehicle Inspection Is
A digital vehicle inspection, or DVI, replaces the old paper checklist on a clipboard. As our technician looks over your vehicle, they document its condition electronically in Tekmetric, the same system that runs our online booking. Instead of scribbled notes you never see, the inspection becomes a report with photos that goes straight to your phone.
What the Technician Checks
The tech looks the vehicle over and documents what they find, good and bad. A typical inspection covers items like:
- Tires, tread depth, and wear patterns
- Brake pads, rotors, and brake lines
- Fluid levels and fluid condition
- Belts and hoses
- Battery and charging system
- Lights and wipers
- Steering and suspension components
- Any leaks underneath the vehicle
Good and bad is the point. An inspection is about information, not a hunt for things to sell you. Plenty of items come back marked in good shape, and you see those too, so you know what is fine as well as what is not.
Every Finding Gets a Photo
When the technician finds something worth showing you, they photograph it right on the inspection. A brake pad worn down to the backing. A cracked belt. A wet spot where a gasket is seeping. You are not taking anyone's word for it. You will see it.
The Estimate Comes to Your Phone
You receive the inspection and the estimate by text or email, photos included. Every recommended item is listed with its own price, so you can see what the technician saw, what we recommend, and what each item costs, all from your phone. No standing at a counter trying to make a decision on the spot.
You Approve Before Any Work Starts
Nothing gets repaired until you say so. You approve or decline each item remotely, right from the estimate, before any work begins. Want the brakes done now and the cabin filter next visit? That is your call, item by item. If you have questions, your service advisor is a phone call away and will walk through exactly what is covered under our 2-year / 24,000-mile warranty before the repair starts.
Why Photos Kill the Trust Problem
Every horror story about auto repair comes down to the same thing, being told your car needs work you could not verify. Photos flip that. When the evidence is attached to the estimate, you can judge each recommendation for yourself before you spend a dollar. An honest shop has nothing to hide, and a photographed inspection proves it on every single visit. It also means the decision is documented, so you know exactly what you approved and what you chose to hold off on.
See It for Yourself
The best way to understand a digital inspection is to get one. Book a diagnostic visit or an inspection at any of our six shops across Augusta GA, Martinez GA, Thomson GA, Aiken SC, and Warrenville SC, and our ASE-certified technicians will show you exactly where your vehicle stands, with photos to prove it. Same-day service in most cases. And if you want the whole visit spelled out step by step, from booking to pickup, our What to Expect page walks through all of it.
