Aiken, SC · Since 1977
Looking for an auto repair shop in Aiken, SC? C&C Automotive at 536 East Pine Log Road, near Whiskey Road, has handled oil changes, brakes, alignments, AC repair and transmission work for Aiken drivers since 2022, under a family name the CSRA has known since 1977.
Around the Shop

Commuters, families and work trucks come to our Aiken repair shop for an oil change, a wheel alignment, brake repair, car AC repair or a transmission that has started slipping. Before a wrench turns, you get photos and a written estimate on your phone and decide what gets done.
Whiskey Road is one of the busiest corridors in Aiken County: a long run of traffic lights, turn lanes and shopping center entrances, with summer pavement that radiates heat back into the engine bay. That kind of driving shapes what we see in our bays every week, and it shapes the advice you get here.
C&C earned AAA Approved status in 2001, ahead of every other auto repair shop in Augusta, and our Aiken technicians hold ASE certifications. Most repairs come with a 2-year / 24,000-mile parts and labor warranty from the Aiken shop that did the work. Aiken drivers who type best mechanic near me land on hundreds of Google reviews that say the same thing: straight answers and fair prices. Read them here.
The standard is simple to check. Every finding comes with a photo, every price comes before the work, and every part we call bad has a test result behind it. If something can safely wait until your next visit, the estimate says so in writing.
Oil choice starts with the sticker under your hood and the owner's manual, not the oil on sale. A late-model Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra with the 5.3-liter V8 wants a dexos1 Gen 3 approved 0W-20; a Toyota Tacoma's V6 runs 0W-20; a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.6-liter Pentastar takes 0W-20 on later model years and 5W-20 on earlier ones. Our Aiken oil change service confirms the grade, the approval and the capacity for your exact engine, then fills to that level.
Start-stop systems, cylinder deactivation and turbochargers all lean on oil harder than older engines did. A GM V8 that shuts off cylinders on the highway relies on clean oil to keep its lifters working, and a turbo spins on a film of oil at very high speed. Fresh oil and the right filter matter more on these engines than they did on a 1990s pickup.
Whiskey Road is severe-service driving: short hops between lights, long idles in turn lanes, and summer heat soaking the engine bay. That puts most Aiken commuters on the shorter oil change interval in their manual. Each visit includes a new filter, a fluid check, an oil life reset and a look at the underside on the lift. Most are done the same day, and our oil change coupons work in Aiken too. See oil change in Aiken for oil types and intervals.
Auto repair in Aiken here covers the whole car: engine repair, cooling system and overheating repair, suspension and steering, electrical faults, starters and alternators, plus the scheduled maintenance your owner's manual lists at 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 miles. Ford, Chevrolet, GMC and Ram trucks, Jeep and Dodge SUVs, Toyota, Honda and Nissan cars: every make gets the same process.
Car repair in Aiken, SC rarely starts with a clean answer. A shake at 60 mph can be a wheel balance, a worn tie rod or a separating tire belt. A battery light can be the alternator, a loose ground or a belt slipping on a worn tensioner. We test each possibility in order and show you the result, so the repair fixes the actual cause the first time.
A good mechanic in Aiken should measure before replacing. Our technicians use professional scan tools that reach every module in the car, smoke machines for vacuum and evaporative leaks, meters for voltage drop testing, and load testers and charging system analyzers for the battery, starter and alternator.
That equipment changes outcomes. A lean code on a Ford truck might be a cracked intake hose a smoke machine finds in minutes. A repeat dead battery on a Silverado might be a module that stays awake after the truck is locked, a parasitic draw that a meter can measure. A check engine light gets a diagnosis built on freeze frame data and live readings, not a parts guess. Quick jobs usually finish the day you drop the car off; larger ones are diagnosed that day and come with a firm time frame.
Aiken has its share of rough pavement: patched lanes, railroad crossings and the sandy shoulders off the main roads. One hard hit can bend a tie rod or shift the toe setting enough to wear a tire's inside edge in a few thousand miles. Signs to watch: a steering wheel that sits crooked going straight, a pull toward the shoulder, or uneven wear you can feel across the tread.
A proper wheel alignment measures camber, caster and toe at each wheel and the thrust angle of the rear axle, then sets them to the maker's spec. Worn ball joints or tie rod ends get found before the alignment, because a loose part will not hold a setting. Many newer cars with stability control also need the steering angle sensor reset afterward. You get a before-and-after printout plus a final road test, and most alignments are done the same day. Car quit on Whiskey Road, Richland Avenue or Silver Bluff Road? C&C 24-hour towing brings it to our East Pine Log Road shop and keeps the repair in Aiken. Shop open? Call the shop. Shop closed? Our tow driver answers at 706-945-3370; give the cross street or business you are near and what the dash showed when it died.
Help the driver load it right: say whether the vehicle is all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, whether it rolls freely, and whether the key still turns. Then stay out of traffic. A busy road with turn lanes and driveways is no place to stand next to a stalled car.
Once the car arrives, a technician pulls the codes saved when it shut off, confirms the fault and phones you with the repair, the price and a time frame before anything is done. Read how towing in Aiken works after hours.
Stop-and-go on Whiskey Road is hard on brakes. Each red light turns speed into heat at the pads and rotors, and in summer that heat has nowhere to go. Our Aiken brake shop replaces pads and rotors as a set on every brake job, never resurfacing the old rotors, because a thin rotor runs hotter and warps sooner on exactly that kind of driving.
A complete brake repair also covers the hardware that makes pads wear evenly: caliper slides, abutment clips and the caliper pistons themselves. We check the hoses and lines, then test the brake fluid, which absorbs moisture over time and loses heat resistance as it does.
Pickups pulling horse trailers or boats need pads built for heat, and many newer SUVs have electronic parking brakes that need a scan tool to service. Lug nuts are tightened with a calibrated torque wrench to the number the maker lists. Most brake jobs are done the same day. Each step of brake repair in Aiken is laid out on our brake page.
A transmission problem rarely starts with a bang. It starts with a flare between gears, a firm engagement into reverse on a cold morning, or a shudder at 40 mph that feels like rumble strips. Caught early, the fix may be fluid, a solenoid or a software update. Ignored, the same symptom can burn up clutch packs.
Aiken's traffic makes it worse. Constant shifting between first and third on Whiskey Road, heat soak in a parked car, and trucks towing trailers all raise fluid temperature, and heat is what breaks transmission fluid down. We pull transmission codes, watch live data such as fluid temperature and clutch slip, inspect the fluid, and road test the shift pattern before suggesting a fluid service, a part, a relearn or a transmission replacement.
Every transmission gets a same-day diagnosis and a clear time frame, so you know what you are deciding before you decide it. See what transmission repair in Aiken involves.
An Aiken July in traffic is the hardest test a car air conditioner gets. Warning signs come in patterns: cold on the highway but warm at a light, cold for ten minutes then warm, a musty smell from the vents, or a compressor that clicks on and off every few seconds. Each pattern points somewhere different, which is why car AC repair starts with testing, not a can of refrigerant.
Refrigerant does not wear out. If the system is low, it leaked. What remains gets recovered by machine, the empty system sits under vacuum to confirm it holds, and the refill goes in by exact weight to the number on the label under the hood. Electronic detectors and dye find the leak at the hose crimps, o-rings, service ports, condenser or evaporator.
Older cars run R-134a and many newer cars run R-1234yf, and the Aiken shop services both. A refill without a repair only buys a few weeks of cold air, so we fix the leak first. The whole process for car AC repair in Aiken is on our AC page.
Plenty of transmissions are sold with fluid called lifetime, but heat sets the real interval. Towing, idling in Whiskey Road traffic and summer temperatures put most Aiken trucks and SUVs on the severe schedule in the owner's manual. Old fluid loses the friction properties the clutches need, which is how a smooth shift turns harsh.
A transmission fluid change has to use the exact fluid the maker specifies; the wrong one can cause the shudder or slip you were trying to prevent. A drain and fill replaces only part of the fluid, because the torque converter and cooler lines keep the rest, so some transmissions need more than one service to bring the fluid back. Many newer units have no dipstick and are filled to a level checked at a set temperature on a scan tool. Read more about transmission fluid change in Aiken.
Truck repair in Aiken is a big part of this shop's work: Ford F-150 and Super Duty, Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra and Ram 1500 pickups that commute, haul and tow. Trucks have their own known trouble spots: lifter problems on some GM V8s with cylinder deactivation, cam phaser rattle on a cold start in some EcoBoost engines, and front-end wear on heavy four-wheel-drive trucks.
We service the parts trucks add, too: transfer case and differential fluid, U-joints, ball joints and steering linkage that carry more weight than a car's. A truck that pulls a trailer or a horse trailer through the summer gets the brakes, cooling system and transmission fluid checked with that load in mind.

I had a catalytic converter replacement on a hybrid Kia to do. I had someone tell me to just do it at the dealer because these can be tricky (not sure why). Of course the dealer's price was way too high so I asked C and C for a quote. It was over a thousand dollars cheaper and they have done plenty of work for me before so I took the car to them. No issues at all. They ran some other diagnostics at the same time just to make sure there was nothing else that needed to be fixed. Great experience!
